Sabrina's Brochure Spotlight: Seabreeze Amusement Park 2008

The Finger Lakes region of New York is known for its wineries. But before you tie one on, you may want to consider visiting this fine establishment...

Nestled among all those grapevines and lakes is Seabreeze Amusement Park, the fourth oldest park in the United States. The Whirlwind spinning coaster pictured on the cover of this brochure was installed back in 2004 as part of the park's 125th anniversary celebration. In 2008, they went with the decidedly less thrilling but equally fun Music Express.

There's something about this brochure that just screams "fun", although the kid in the third seat of the Jack Rabbit appears to disagree. Perhaps it would have been better for him to forego this classic 1920-built woodie in favor of some of Seabreeze's fine kiddie rides.

Seabreeze prides itself on being a well-rounded family fun destination at an affordable price. Apparently it also prides itself on being Goldilocks-approved: Not too big, not too small, but...wait for it...juuuuust right!

This page includes a great shot of Raging Rivers Waterpark, which is included in the price of Seabreeze's Ride & Slide pass. For those who aren't particularly interested in rides and slides, the good news is that you don't have to buy one of those passes to enter the park. The bad news is that you still have to purchase a "Spectator Pass", which ran close to $10 in 2008. But when you compare that figure to the cost of entering some of the nearby theme parks, and then add Seabreeze's free parking to the equation, it's not a bad deal at all.

If I had my cheesy way, the headline at the top of this page would read more like this: "Getting to Seabreeze Is a Breeze!" Perhaps I should contact their marketing department. (Perhaps I should trademark it first.) I think it's money.

In any event, this quaint traditional park is well worth squeezing into your wine tasting itinerary if you find yourselves in the area. I recommend Seabreeze first, wine tasting second, and staring aimlessly at all the little blue dots on this brochure third. You laugh now, but just wait and see how entertaining they become with a few glasses of Cab down the hatch. Not that I would know...
